Premier League champions

Not who won it. How.

Who won the Premier League in a given season is the least interesting thing about it, and usually the only thing recorded. The title has been decided on the final day, on goal difference, by a club that had not won a league in eighty-one years, and by margins ranging from a single point to nineteen.

What is collected here is the run-in rather than the roll of honour: how many matches were left when the title was mathematically settled, what the winning margin was, which result on which afternoon actually did it, and who the champions had to hold off. Several of those answers contradict the version most people remember, because the memorable moment and the decisive one are frequently not the same match.

Every season from 1992-93 onward, with the sentence that establishes each fact.
