The Premier League Golden Boot, the Pichichi, the Capocannoniere and the Torjaegerkanone.
Four countries, four awards, four sets of rules about what counts. The Premier League Golden Boot goes on league goals alone and is shared when players tie. The Pichichi is awarded by the newspaper Marca and follows its own table, which occasionally differs from the official count by a goal. The Capocannoniere and the kicker Torjaegerkanone have their own histories again.
What makes the list worth reading is the shape of it rather than the names at the top. The winning tally swings enormously — some seasons are taken with a total that would not have made the top three a decade earlier, and some are won with numbers that look like a misprint. Shared awards cluster in particular eras. And the club a winner was playing for is frequently not the club they are remembered at.
Every season from 1990-91 onward is here, with the tally, the club and the source for each.
